Book Trailer - I HATCHED

After a short summer break and hosting a writer's retreat, I am back to writing/revising, making book trailers and video book reports, and homeschooling my daughter. Well, I'm also helping with canning fruits and vegetables and other farm work as well.

Today, I finished a book trailer for I HATCHED written by Jill Esbaum and illustrated by Jen Corace.

You can view it at my YouTube channel here: YouTube I HATCHED book trailer

Enjoy the rest of your summer!

County Fair July 2014

This week is my daughter's first year competing at the 4-H county fair.

Here she is in the shooting competition .22 rifle...

 Getting her blue ribbon

Here is her "Shooting Safety Notebook" for the Art Hall.

Here is the Hello Kitty cake she made for the cake decorating category. I helped her condition the fondant, but she made everything. (All the figurines we've made with clay over the last year was good practice for her.)

She designed this robin on her own :)

Here she is with her cake in the art hall - blue ribbon.

Here is her Katahdin Hair Sheep poster for the art hall.
It received a blue ribbon, a best in class ribbon, and was selected to go to the state fair.

Goofy smile :)

Washing her ewe lamb before showing her.
She received a blue ribbon and best in class (she was the only Katahdin ewe).

Competing for Reserve Champion Ewe (2nd place) out of all ewes shown. Center girl with dark green shirt.

Competing for Sportsmanship (this was at the end of a loooong day. She was pretty tuckered by now.) I didn't mind at all that she didn't win this part --- but I was very pleased with her conduct throughout all the competitions. She was helpful to others - and others were very helpful to her! She also did her best in whatever she was doing all week.

Reserve Champion Ewe - "Cuddles" with plaque and ribbon.
Last summer, we bought our Katahdin ewes and ram from Steven & Melissa Bull of Red Barn Katahdin Farms in Iowa. Their web page is:  www.redbarnkatahdins.com

Here she is showing her market lamb, "Leroy," for the auction. She was not happy to sell him but she kept her composure. He had a rate of gain of .6774193 which earned him a blue ribbon.

KLM's Book Review Episode #4

This week, KLM reviews the 2014 picture book I AM COW, HEAR ME MOO! It is written by Jill Esbaum and illustrated by Gus Gordon. It is published by Dial Books for Young Readers.

Find the video on YouTube here:  KLM's Book Reviews Episode #4.

Behind the scenes:  We videoed our cows and got them to "moo" so we could use the audio in this book review!  It's pretty funny.

Here is Jill's website:  JillEsbaum

KLM's Book Reviews - Episode #3

Today, KLM reviewed the chapter book: HUNT FOR THE DEVIL'S DRAGON written by Marianne Hering and Wayne Thomas Batson.  It is part of the Imagination Station series.

Here's the link to the video:  HUNT FOR THE DEVIL'S DRAGON.

I videoed her a little too far back this time and since I also videoed the next episode, it will be too far back too. Live and learn!

Rev. 12:7-8 "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven."

Changes

Well, today I figured out that I was uploading my videos to the wrong YouTube channel.

Don't ask me why I have two channels... I don't remember!  There was probably a valid reason, but I want to use the one with the same name as my website.

Soooo, I've added the videos I've posted recently to the "right" channel.  If you have the time or inclination, I would appreciate you subscribing to my channel!

Here it is:  https://www.youtube.com/user/patriciamillerbooks

I have three videos I'm working on. Hopefully I'll be able to post at least one of them tomorrow.

1 Cor 13:4-7  "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." ESV

KLM's Book Reviews at Pilcrow Place

Last week, I told my daughter she would have to read every day and do at least one book report per week. She just finished *The Redcoats are Coming* by Marianne Hering and Nancy I. Sanders.

Today, we made a video of her book report. I edited it just a bit (places she repeated herself). We will post book reviews as we do them. I think her next one will be of 3 or 4 picture books in one review.
::::KLM made her own *microphone* using paper and duck tape :)
